“The Living Cross” is a musical/dramatic presentation that brings to life the events leading to the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and is held at Church of the Open Door the week before Eastor every year!
If you would like to be a part of the 2018 production or are looking for other information about Living Cross, like seat reservations, you can get that information here.
For more than thirty years now the Church of the Open Door has been coming together as a family to present “The Living Cross”. It has been a blessing to thousands, and it surely will be a blessing to your heart as well.
Each year, more than 100 church members and musicians of the Choir and Orchestra of the Church of the Open Door and a cast of nearly 120 (all volunteers and members of the church) come together to present “The Living Cross”.
This year’s presentation is entitled “The Last Lamb” and serves as an announcement to the world that all those who trust in the shed blood of God’s perfect Lamb, his own Son, Jesus Christ, can stand blameless in the presence of God. The story is centered around Simon of Cyrene who comes to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover with his two sons, Alexander and Rufus. Although fascinated by his father’s telling of the Scriptures, Rufus is relunctantly bringing his pet lamb to sacrifice, and Alexander is your typical teenager who wants nothing to do his father’s fables. Through the father’s telling of the story of Abraham and Isaac, explaining the meaning of the Passover Lamb, and witnessing the baptism, the ministry, and the death of Christ, Rufus and Alexander both have a change of heart!
Your heart will be stirred through the music of our choir and orchestra as well as by the visual presentation of this wonderful story of God’s great love from the Word of God!
