“Paul & The Church in Thessalonica”

1 Thessalonians 2:10-20


1.   1 Thessalonians 2:10-12 – The Church of Thessalonica witnessed the ministry and life of Paul.

     a.    The way Paul did His ministry.

     b.    Paul did his ministry with all his heart.

     c.     Paul did His ministry treating the believers like they were his loved children.


2.   1 Thessalonians 2:12 – Paul encouraged them to live worthy of being called children of God.

     a.     1 Thessalonians 2:13 – They received the Word of God.

     b.    Rejected man’s wisdom but focused on God’s truth.
            1 Corinthians 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's
            wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual
            things with spiritual.

            James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness,
            and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls
.

     c.     Allowed the world to work in them and transform their lives.

     d.    Imitated the believers in God’s churches in Judea. 1 Thessalonians 2:14

     e.     Do not be like the World / Others - 1 Thessalonians 2:15-16.


3.    1 Thessalonians 2:17-20 - Paul, Silvanus and Timothy never stopped thanking God for the church.

     a.     They gave thanks for them because they responded to the Word of God.

     b.    They gave thanks for the Thessalonica church because Paul and the others loved it
            as God loved them.

     c.     They very much wanted to be with the brothers of Thessalonica.

     d.    The Church was His pride and joy.

     e.     Paul’s great desires and Joy.
