From My Heart

When the Lord Jesus came into Jerusalem for the last time before the crucifixion, the people lined the street and cried, “Hosanna, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” For the next 6 days, great crowds came to hear him speak and to enjoy the miraculous things He did in healing folks and helping all manner of infirmities. It looked as if the people would make Him their King in an attempt to remove the Roman Empire’s grip on their nation.

But, the Lord Jesus did not come to rule on David’s throne - He will do that very thing when He comes to the earth the second time, at the end of the Tribulation period. The first time the Lord Jesus came to earth, He came to die on the Cross. While the people welcomed Him, the Sanhedrin were working overtime to find a way to stop Him. If the people rallied around Jesus, they knew they would lose their power and position. And they could not allow that to happen.

They rapidly turned the people against Jesus, and the plot was on to gather false witnesses to accuse the Lord of blasphemy against God. They ordered Jesus to be arrested, and then spent the entire night trying Him illegally. But, the reason He came was to go to the Cross and die for our sins. So, right on schedule, Jesus went to the Cross the next day, and gave His life’s blood for the sins of the world.

Next Sunday we celebrate Easter, to honor the resurrection of the Lord from the dead. Jesus said on several occasions that He would go to the Cross to die, but would resurrect from the dead three days after His death. What He did on the Cross, was to pay our sin debt, but the resurrection was like the “receipt” to show that the debt was paid.

Because He paid the debt we owe, each of us is now invited to come to the Lord Jesus to be saved from our sins. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved.” If you have not called on the Lord Jesus to save your soul, there is no better time than “now” to call upon Him.

     Have a wonderful day!
