From My Heart

Tuesday is Election Day across America! I sure hope you will go to the polls, cast your vote, and let your voice be heard! An overwhelming majority of the American people believe our nation is on the wrong path! It has amazed me how quickly this Administration has made a complete mess out of everything they have touched. America was established as a nation of freedom, but our freedoms are being stripped away with each passing day. We were established under our Constitution as a free-market society, but we are transitioning toward a government-controlled Socialist country. Please get out to vote this Tuesday, and let’s try to get our country away from these Progressives.

There are multitudes of verses in the Bible that challenge us to pray! In both Testaments, the people of God are encouraged to come to the Lord with their burdens, needs, and requests. One of my favorite prayer promises is found in Jeremiah 33:3 “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”

Seven times in this chapter we find the phrase, “thus saith the LORD.” Seven is the “number of perfection” throughout the Bible, which indicates if God speaks on a subject, there is nothing else that needs to be said! In v. 2, we read the first, “thus saith the LORD,” and the first thing the LORD said in this chapter was to “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”

The King James translators placed a note in their center column which tells us the word “mighty things” can also mean “hidden things.” How often do we want to know why something has happened in our lives? How often do we seek the advice and counsel of others, hoping someone can tell us why we are having to go through some issue? I have heard so many people through the years say, “Pastor, I just don’t understand…!”

But, in the verse, it was not Jeremiah who said it - it was the LORD, Jehovah God, the LORD who formed everything simply by speaking it into existence; the LORD who establishes (maintains) all He created; who said, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things (even the hidden things), which thou knowest not.”

I know many folks are discouraged by the way this world seems to be falling apart but Christians need to claim Jeremiah 33:3 as the great prayer promise and call upon the LORD! Let Him show you those “hidden” ways to deal with today’s life.

     Have a great day!

Pastor Norris
