GUEST EVANGELIST: We welcome Dr. Lou Rossi, who is with us today to preach in our morning and evening services. Make plans to be here for each service and invite someone to come with you!
From My Heart
We are glad to have Evangelist Lou Rossi with us today as our guest speaker. Dr. Rossi has been with us on many occasions through the years, and I am delighted to have him back. He will be preaching this morning as well as for the evening service at 6:00 p.m. I sure hope you will be here for both services to hear the messages the Lord gives him for our church. Dr. Rossi is a dear friend to me, but also to our church family.
In the Gospel of John 14:6, the Lord Jesus told His Disciples, “…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” As I have emphasized to you before, the Lord Jesus did not say He is a way, as if to say He is one among many ways to God the Father - He said He is THE way! In other words, He is the only way. He also said He is THE truth, and He is THE life. There is no other way to God the Father than to come through God the Son and His great salvation, provided through His death, burial, and resurrection.
In the Gospel of Matthew 24:11, Jesus said, “And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.” So, how will these false prophets deceive others? Simply by claiming they have the truth! It amazes me how folks can be so easily deceived by that which is opposed to God and His Word, but it has been happening since the Garden of Eden. The Lord Jesus is “the truth,” and anything contrary to who He claimed to be and the message He taught is the opposite of truth, which is simply a lie!
The Lord Jesus is the truth, the Word of God, through whom all things were made. In John 1:1-3, we read, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.” Those three verses in John’s introduction to his Gospel clearly spell out the great premise of this Gospel account - that Jesus Christ is TRUTH.
How can anyone misunderstand these simple one-syllable words used by John to describe the eternal Son of God? In John 18:37-38, Jesus was being questioned by Pilate just before Pilate turned Christ over to be crucified. The Lord Jesus told Pilate that He had come into this world to bear witness to the truth. Pilate then looked at Jesus and asked, “What is truth?” How sad is that statement - because “THE TRUTH” was standing right in front of him, but he could not see Him who is TRUTH.
Let me encourage you this morning to realize where truth is discovered. It is in a Person, and that Person is the Lord Jesus Christ. Have a great day and keep looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
