From My Heart
This evening, after our church service, we will have a time of fellowship featuring my personal favorite, “the pie fellowship.” When we were growing up, our mother always seemed to have some kind of pie in the house for dessert. She made her own crusts, and we always had a huge variety! My favorite was her Graham Cracker pie. It had a Graham Cracker crust, a vanilla custard pudding center, and meringue for a topping! When I took Pastor Staner trout fishing in West Virginia, we drove into Richwood to eat at “The Restaurant.” Seriously, that is what it was called - but the food was amazing. After we ate, I ordered us two slices of homemade Graham Cracker pie! Pastor Staner and I agreed - it was the best pie ever! Anyway, I sure hope you will stick around to enjoy your favorite after church this evening.
Well, Rosh Hashanah came and went last Tuesday, and contrary to all the predictions, the Lord Jesus did not appear in the clouds to rapture His Church up to meet Him in the air. Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year, and it is celebrated over a couple of days. It is traditionally the time when the Jewish people have the chance to “clean the slate” and start over with the hope and prayer that the new year will be better than the last one. Of course, the Jews have many traditions connected to everything they do, and they see Rosh Hashanah as the birthday of the creation of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden! Of course, there is no way to authenticate that claim!
This last week, several nations (who should know better) have recognized Palestine as a nation. These nations include Great Britain, France, Canada, and a few others. I honestly don’t think this means anything to Israel or to the United States. Of course, President Trump and Mr. Netanyahu are not going to bow to the demands of Socialist Governments and recognize the Palestinians as a sovereign State. Israel has had enough of Hamas and their terrorism and is not going to yield to the demands of the world’s leaders who side with the terrorists and reject Israel.
Also this week, when the U.S. House of Representatives brought a resolution to the floor that honored the work and memory of Charlie Kirk, 58 Democrats voted against the resolution, and over 20 would not even show up to cast a vote! Aren’t you tired of this hate and disdain these Liberals have for anyone who disagrees with them? At the last State of the Union address, they refused to stand and applaud a young boy who was made an honorary fireman by the President! The only thing they know is to hate on President Trump! I, for one, am simply sick and tired of it! I think the country is tired of it as well! The assassination of Charlie Kirk, in my opinion, was the final straw for the country! If you don’t like what someone is saying, turn the channel; simply don’t listen to them! But you don’t have to take a gun and shoot them to silence their voice!
I trust you will have a wonderful day and allow God’s Holy Spirit to draw you close to Him! Let’s rejoice in the Lord and all His wondrous mercies!
Pastor Norris
